It is time to start with the darks. Establishing the dark side of objects first, I am more able to remember where the light is coming from. By using my darkest colors now, I will be making a more understandable road map to follow. After the darks are painted in I will mix the mid-tones. The rocks all seem to have different personalities so I'm working on one- at- a- time to establish form. I am trying not to get fascinated by any one area of the painting at this point. The canvas size is 24X30.
