Two of a Kind

I had someone ask a question about "why" and "how I did the background?"
I painted the pears first, let me back-up and say, "I painted and re-painted the pears!"
I wanted a complement to the light green, so my first thought was some shade of red.
As I looked through my tubes of reds, a beautiful transparent orange caught my eye.
I applied the Transparent Orange, but it didn't feel right once I was done.
So what do you do?  I tried lightening one side with White and it just turned, chalky!
Time to step back, take a seat and think about this?
Next I tried a transparent brown, and that seemed to do the trick.
Now the stems didn't show up!  I tried highlighting them with white,
but that wasn't a good choice either!
Using Orange to play off the warm background was my next decision!

This is only a few of the hundreds of decisions made during the painting processes.

Hope you Enjoy and Thank You for looking!

    1. Terri,
The inside story came about "after" I posted the painting and just the title. My husband asking "why" I picked the background color!
That is when I knew, I had to write a little more. :)
